A Complex World and a Net of Colours – An Interview with Fulvio Alvisi

Fulvio Alvisi of alvisi e alvisi, one of the exhibitors in the section “Trendable” of the Heimtextil, gave in his presentation “A net of colours” a preview of the trend colours of the summer 2009. The point of departure for this concept was that human beings who live in today’s modern and complex information and communication structures, spheres of life and relationships, are integrated in a kind of net. Four frames of reference, which Alvisi summarises under the catch phrases “Nature inside”, “Poetry inside”, “Urban Tribe inside”, and “New Purism inside”, provide an orientation. Each of these themes corresponds to a different sphere of life which is connected to certain spaces of colour. In our interview Fulvio Alvisi talks about these spaces of colour, spheres of live but also about the current state of the industry.

J&C: Mr Alvisi, in your presentation you spoke about a “net of colours”. Are we caught in it?

Fulvio Alvisi: “We are IN the net. Of course we also construct it. We constantly stand under the influence of new impressions, new emotions. Because of that there is a trend towards clear shapes and colder colourings. Metallic surfaces underline this kind of orientation; lines, stripes, simple geometrical constructs like circle and squares combine to the new basic concept ‘New Purism’. The look ahead is important, as well as a clear structuring of the net.”
